clutch choice ..little help

Hi guys ive recently done a few mods,, large M2 intercooler,, airfilters, downpipe, cat back and apexi ECU running 12psi,,,,, have started to notice that the clutch is starting to slip in 4th and 5th gear and some times 3rd when pushing the car.

Basically i need a better clutch but dont want a paddle clutch or anything that gives a stupid pedal pressure (car is a street driven car),, so i could do with something that feels like stock with a normal drive plate but can handle a good chunk more power,,,,
If someone can point me in the right direction or experiences with clutches used thanks

Yes, I used this clutch for a few years on the street and road course. It has a very OEM feel.

get a sprung 6puck..

it really sucks to have a fairly new clutch, but isn't able to hold
your power/torque. don't ask how i know.

Just get a 6puck sprung and you don't have to worry about
having to upgrade later.

ACT Street/strip worked well for me before going single. Now I run the Exedy Twin Plate. Both have a very streetable feel.

The ACT street/strip will handle anything the stock twin turbos can throw at it. No need for a 6 puck unless you plan on upgrading.

Yeah a 6 puck, even if sprung, feels much different than OEM!

I'm really not liking it anymore, but I'm approaching 500whp. Looks liek it's time to pull the trigger on a $1000 twin plate

Anyone care to make a suggestion since the original poster's question has been answered?

for me the EXEDY HYPER SINGLE, the bestest clutch ever, and you can not only trow the kitchen sink, you can add a bathroom, living room coutch, and fridge lol, no but really it comes with a flywheel, and you can kinda lay on the clutch not like the avg 6 puck on/off clutch.

ive got a Cusco rocket, the three puck metallic. Really nice, little extra pedal effort, which I kinda like, and a little more grabby, which I also like. And Im smore or less stock, so I cant really say on the power handling potential, but it grabs hard in every gear. Love it for 500 bucks.

I highly doubt the Exedy single will handle 500whp.

One more vote for ACT SS. I've had it for about 3 years on primarily street driven, mostly stock car. Maybe just a bit stiffer than stock, but very streetable. No complaints.

I've got the ACT Street/Strip clutch and LOVE it. I've done at least a dozen burnouts and really hard launches (clutch dump) and no issues yet. My car is probably in the 250-280 whp range. I never experienced what the stock FD clutch is like, but I will say that the ACT S/S is very easy to drive with. I actually like it better than the clutch on my Integra! I think it's rated to around 400 ft-lb flywheel torque, so you should be fine unless you go really big on power.

I have a SPEC 6 puck sprung at if feels just like a stock clutch but it held over 500 hp @ 20lbs of boost. I had the ACT unsprung 6 puck and that was a beast to get moving but it took a ton of abuse. That thing lasted longer than my motor, I use to go to the track every week with that thing and it never failed.

I also run the spec sprung 6 puck, but it feels nothing like stock to me. There is very little pedal effort, much less than stock (not sure I like this part). It is pretty easy to drive on the street however, I can slip it at 1200 rpms or so without any problems. Compared to an act unsprung 6 puck i've driven in the past, it is a MUCH more streetable setup. Please note that I'm not really comparing brands here, but comparing sprung to unsprung.

Yeah this is completely false. Pedal feel might be close but you can't slip the thing very much. COMPLETELY different than stock.

I always thought that clutches were rated on Torque not HP, but I have an ACT street strip and it is doing a good job in my car. It has started slipping some since I have started increasing the boost on my car though.
