Question Clicking Noise when pressing on the brakes

Let me preface this by letting you know this car only has 33K miles on it and it still has the original rotors and pads... I have a set of Hawk HPs I will be putting on before my next track event at Blackhawk farms and I am planning on getting new rotors this winter for the next season. This is more informational than anything.

After my first HPDE event, (placed 5th by the way with a bunch of Novice drivers and first in my class) I noticed when I depressed the brakes I get a slight clicking sound. I am assuming this is the pads telling me it is time to replace them, which I am doing shortly, but I am curious if this is indeed the case. Did some reading and could find any threads specifically on this so I thought I would ping the group.

thanks but I don't believe this to be a bushing issue. It is a definite "click" and it happens on multiple wheels when the brake pedal is depressed. Car doesn't even need to be moving, just depress the brakes with the car off and the click click starts. I am going to swap out the pads this week and see.

There's a good chance that you are missing a backing plate or two. They go behind the brake pads, and keep them centered so they don't move front to back. If the pads move front to back, they contact the housing, and will make a clicking noise.

Interesting. I will have to check that out when I change the pads tonight. Is the backing plate a thin piece of Aluminum or steel that simply slide over the pad? I think I know what these are. If I am missing a backing plate or two, then that would mean these aren't the orignal pads.
