cleaning up the sun damaged finisher panel between the tail lights and hatch.
Posted here because I know a lot of fd's have this problem. Ive always despised the way the finisher panels between the tail lights and hatch seal on my fd where chalky white looking from sun damage. I've just got my car back from a paint job and I'm replacing a lot of parts. Next on the list were these three panels, but before I ordered them I decided to try something out and it worked beautyfully.
Get some 000 steel wool. Take the panels off and scrub the sun damaged portion of the panels until the black plastic comes back thru. Then add a coat of your favorite brand of "soul glow" and bam, they look new again. Takes some elbow grease but the chalky white plastic comes right off.
I know there's lots of fd's with these panels in this condition. Do it, it looks much better and its much cheaper than new ones.
