Cleaning blitz air filters

Well lately I have been noticing some bad performance and bad gas mileage. So i took off my filters to find one of them totally clogged inside , so clogged that if i pour water into it it doesnt come out. I tried just puttin it in water and washing it off with soap, nothing works.

Buy a can of Gunk or Carb Cleaner and spray the exterior and interior well. On tough grimey area, brush with an old tooth brush until clean. Spray some more Cleaner on it (them). Rinse with water and let it dry. They'll look and perform like new again.

Mean no disrespect, but, have you done that yourselve? Just wondering cuz the filter is advertised to be no-need-to-clean ones. Yes, we might have a dirty filter, but without manufacture's recommendation to do so, I doubt what would work.

Yes I have. I have a Blitz SUS system on my FD and I've cleaned them twice using Gunk and Carb Cleaner method. The stuff really desolves all the grime and small dirty particles that get stuck in the Filters. And it actually creates a nice shine to the S/S Filters after they're washed and dried. It works great.

Sorry about that

And, thank you, areXseven, for the tip. I'll do that as well.

I want to make sure y'all understand that you have to TAKE THE FILTERS OFF the intake piping in order to get them cleaned properly. You don't want to spray Gunk or Carb Cleaner on them while they're still attached to the intake pipes. That would be a big no-no. (kinda like a poorman's Nitrous system)
