Chrome Plating VS Polishing

I am trying to decided if I want to have my parts chromed or polished. The parts are: UIM, TB, Greddy 3 Piece piping (i know this comes polished, but I have seen it re-polished and it looks much better than how it comes from Greddy), intake piping, Y-pipe, and possibly blitz smic.

Polishing would be done by cantgostraight(jack) and chrome plating done by goodfellafd3s(rich), both of them do great work as well.

Are their any advantages of using one over the other? What are the differences in prices? Does one shine better then the other? And whats the longevity of each, I know if you dont keep up with the polishing with mothers polish it beings to fade, does this happen with chrome plating as well? Any other concerns?

Thanks Guys!

If you can swing it, go with chrome. I believe chroming costs 2x what polishing costs. Chrome is much easier to maintain, just wipe with a clean cloth.

^ it's not easy to make chrome stick to aluminum, if it's even possible.

goodfellafd3s does get some good shinny stuff.

and dgeesaman they would have to strip and clean almost anything before they could start the chroming process.

i sent some stuff to jethot before.

Activating of aluminium:

The aluminium article should be cleaned in a non caustic cleaner, then given a light pickle in 10-25% sulfuric acid, then dipped for 30-60 seconds in a zincate bath. For best results the article should then be cyanide-copper plated(3-4 mins) then placed in the hard chrome bath with the current swiched on.

So then it's copper clad then chromed. Now all the crackheads will try to steal it for the copper.

Chrome-colored ceramic makes more sense to me. It looks great.
