"check engine light doesnt illuminate"
That is one of the things maztech (jeff) said was wrong with the car.
What are the chances of the bulb being burned out?
Also, the tach doesnt work correctly, so would removing the guage cluster to disable the light cause the tach to be jumpy?
Jeff said he couldnt pull codes because the light doesnt illuminate.
Please help,
Ben

Well, whether the light comes on or not doesn't have anything to do with pulling the codes. If there are codes stored it wouldn't matter whether the Check Engine light was functioning or not. There are codes that are stored by the ECU that don't even flash a warning (enable the light) at all.
As far as the tach being jumpy, it could be one or more of several reasons. Yes, removing the gauge cluster and either damaging the solder points or not getting the wiring connections all the way in could cause problems.

Mahkij,
Jeff at Maztech in Tampa told me he couldnt pull codes because the light wouldnt come on... ? I will give him a call tommorow and find out what is going on.
Any other ideas?
Also, Has anyone had this lightbulb just blown from age or use?
thanks,
Ben

I've never heard of those lights blowing out before, on any car for that matter. Mahjik: How can you pull the codes without the check engine light? You would probably need a scan tool or something to plug into the diagnostic port.

ijneb,
Just pull the gauge cluster and check the light. It's not that bad to pull it out, just takes a little time (only a few bolts and screws).
