Check Engine Light
My check engine light came on last night after my gf and I went to go eat at a restaurant. I babied it home with a sharp eye on my gauges. Everything seemed fine. Oil.. normal.. Boost.. normal.. temp.. normal ..Air/Fuel..normal. I restarted my car like 3 times but to no avail the light stayed on. I remebered that earlier I had washed my car by hand at the car wash and decided to clean my engine bay. I degreased it and sprayed it off. Everything was fine, the engine ran perfect. Just about I would say 3 hours later after we ate the light came on. I don't know if its a direct coralation with cleaning the engine bay with a pressure hose or not. Also what would I need and how do I go about checking what code the check engine light is producing.
Thank You

I had the same thing everytime I washed the car. Wierd stuff like the antenna staying up and the radio staying on even after I shut the car off, the engine staying on after I shut it off, and the check engine light coming on every once in a while.....especially after a wash. I refuse to take it to my local dealer, so I got busy one day tracking the problem down. It turned out to be a bundle of wires on the drivers side wheel well that had fell down and were being ground down by the tire (my car is lowered).
I doubt your problem is the same, but the system seems to be very sensitive to shorts....what I mean to say is that shorts cross systems easily in this car and bring on the check engine light easily as well. Check for shorts or loose wires that water may be getting into.

You might be right because a long time ago I bottomed out after I caught some major air....probably all 4 wheels off the ground on accident..lol. Well anyways it tore out the abs unit through my wheel well so after I got the abs fixed there was still a narrow crack in the wheel wheel where u can see on the inside where the tire grabed the wires and pulled them out...kinda hard to explain. Maybe there is a wire grouning out. Thank You.
