Question Check engine light

I was making a quick run to the local computer store today and my check engine light came on. I stopped the car shortly after and visually went over the engine bay and also checked allthe fluids and electrical connections. After several hours, I started the car backup and drove home from work with no problems, and the check engine light never came back. Has anyone experienced this before, is this a bad omen of things to come or what??

Yup, lots of people have experienced it. You should find out what it is ASAP. It's quite simple - check out this page:

Even if the light is out, check for the code. The ECU retains in memory the very last code that was given, even if the light turned off.

Thanks for the info. I did not know the ECU can flash the error code, is there a led or something on the ECU that lights up (if so where is it located). I replaced my original ECU with a Pettit ECU but don't recall seeing anything like that. Thanks

The link that briank provides indicates that the check engine light will blink to show the code. The ECU itself doesn't have a light that blinks. It's the light on your instrumentation panel.
