Hey everyone, I recently bought an RX-7 from an older gentleman with relatively low miles and in mint condition. I paid a lot for it and firgured since it had such low miles I'd have a long time before I had to fix anything. Now just 3 months later, the larger turbo is leaking oil, and having spent all my money on the vehicle itself, I have nothing leftover to fix it. As stupid as it sounds because there usually is no "cheap" solution to fixing an RX-7, what is the most cost-efficient route to making my vehicle operable again? Please keep in mind that at the time, horsepower gains is not the number one priority on my list. Thank you to anyone who responds!

 

I would think the cheapest solution for a blown set of twins is to buy a used set off the classifieds section of the forum. You can often find them for a few hundred dollars.

 

i'm selling a set, with 70K. never smoked, leaked or any sort. ran at 10psi always. little shaft play with out oil. and minimal with oil. pm me or email me @ fd3s@houston.rr.com if you want pix and your offer.

Try ebay, i got a rebuilt set for 130 shipped, and try posting a WTB in the FS section in here, Hope this isn't your daily driver!

 

There is a minor risk that a used set will leak also, but I would buy a set from the classifieds with low miles. If the turbos weren't removed in the last 20k+, I would also budget about $100 and have some spare exhaust studs and nuts on hand. They're not cheap, but there are not many substitutes.
