IS CHANGING THE CATCH CAN HARD TO DO
guys on the fourm said that the fuel smell that im getting would be the catch can, i look at the shop book and it does not say how to change it, it would be a big help if somebody could tell me thanks

The catch can is easy. Its under the elbo... so removbe that first... then its a black plastic tank with vac. fittings on either side. If its bad, it'll be full of charcoal pellets.
OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR FUEL SMELL:
1. Theres a metal one-way valve just down from the tank: its the only metal one on the car, and could be bad.
2. Pulsation dampener: its on the secondary fuel rail, and you've gotta take the plenum off to see it.
3. Leaky injectors.
4. Theres a one-way valve imbedded in the large black vacuum line that comes off the metal tube on the firewall to the brake booster. I mistakenly changed this line to silicon not realizing the valve was in there... produces fuel smell under boost.

oh so the can is in the front of the car, the shop manual looks like its in the back, no is it true that i would have to take of the manufold to get to the pulsation dampner

It really depends on when you are getting the gas smell and the location of the smell as to where you should start looking.
