CF hood pics

Well, the dam dood sent me the wrong hood, instead of the scoot version he sent the kight sport version, but it kinda grew on me so i decided to keep it, plus the hassle of trying to return one of these has got to be silly. and it does do what i wanted, vent with vents well behind the intercooler and keep the nose visual integrity, (the scoot hood messes it up wiht the front duct).

This is supposedly a VIS hood, it has the VIS logo but y anever know, could be a knockoff of VIS too (hehehe)

Once bolted on and tweaked, fitment is ok, not perfect, but not to bad either, I'll post more on that in my other install thread.

Anyway, here are pics, I installed it myself and it DID NOT bolt right on, i had to trim out where the hood latch goes otherwise it would not close, I'll take pics of that later, in another 'install' thread.

packing was very good

as you can see they kept the hood safe

and here it is on my car

took me a all nights to get it installed, including hood pins, I'll post all the grittty details on an 'install' thread when i get time

werent you a bit worried when you put the hood pin's in?? i mean you put holes in the hood and you cant fix it or fill them in later on... nice hood btw..... well, nice car!!

i bought the scoot one from VIS.. it took them a month to deliver but i got it!

isnt there another way to secure the hood without hood pin's?

Damian, it looks great on the car. When you get a chance, would you mind posting some closer pics of how they attached the screens to the underside of the hood? I have a KS replica and I'm trying to decide whether to mount screens like crispy did, or perhaps another way.

I for one, am glad they messed up the order. Please let us know how it works out. Are you planning to paint it?

The KS flows very well with your MS front and rear. They did an excellent job protecting the corners. The Scoot looks too F&F for me and makes me wonder how much drag the ram air dam adds.

Ve3ry clean! I always liked the way the KS one was designed and how it looks. I should be getting that hood in a few months.

Not really.

I was looking through my receipts from the original owner of the car. At one point, Mazda had a recall on their CF hoods. The glue they were using to attach the latch to the hood was failing. They went with another glue. It also depends on what you do with the car. If you are tracking it and seeing serious speed, then you want it pinned to keep it down firmly.

yeah, i was a bit worried, its like no return once you make holes, but i was slow, deliberate and carefull when i measured, marked and made the slots for the pins and holes fro the rivets. I'll have close up pics in my 'install' thread.

well, it has a stock style latch and that will hold the hood down, but i track the car and need pins to make sure it dosnt fly off :-) ...also, the aftermarket hoods can be a bit warped so the hood pins helped the hood sit on my car correctly.
