Catalytic Converter question

i needed a cat, so i had a the mufflershop splice my midpipe and weld in a cat, anyone ever do this? it might seem like a waste, but i had an extra midpipe lying around and they were going to charge me and arm and a leg for the flanges.

what cat did you buy? make sure it will take the heat of a rotary. most cats will fail in a short time.
