carbon vs. glass door wieghts?
I just picked up a FD roller with no doors or front end. Getting ready to start looking for some body components. I was think carbon or glass doors. I havnt been able to find any weight specs for stock door and fiberglass and carbon doors. I have seen the Seibon carbon doors has anyone used them yet. Also does anyone know of any good fiberglass door. I dont really care if they are fixed or not. Sense I will be running a nascar style door bar and the bars will run to the top of the doors. I dont care if they open or not. Any info or pics will help, thanks.
Those carbon doors aren't "true" carbon doors... Most likely FG with 1 outer layer of CF.
If you want real carbon doors, you might want to contact CarbonMan.. But they aren't going to be cheap.. most likely as much as what you paid for your FD (for 2 doors).
Also remember that most doors like this you can't mount stock windows and such...

Thanks for the info, I also figured they were glass door with a carbon skin. As for windows, door handle, door panels so on. I will not be using any of them, havnt decided what I will do for window but I wont be using stock glass. But the door dosnt have to open, sense the cage will be to the top of it anyway. I am fine with a fiberglass door also. Just the shell I got has no doors and I am looking for alternate door besides buying the stock units.
I think the Arios doors are full carbon. http://www.arios.info/products/rx7fdc/index.htm Their translation seems to indicate stock doors are 27kg and theirs are 6kg.
Lighter than I expected, that is for a complete door that would be able to use stock handles, latches, and window. That isnt really want I was looking for. I was more leaning towards a nin-functional door. Sense this will be a gutted track car. But for that price and being that light I would mind there doors.
