carbon fiber manifold

but what about the strength of the UIM LIM. Flexing not a problem under 14 psi at that joint? And the pics you see for the honda tend to be on NA cars. I think the process isn't worth it since you still have to make it strong enough to hold various pumps, egr (non egr in 95), air by pass, double throttle control, accelerated warm up etc. All those channels and passages, vacuum connections...it's just a pipe dream. A good pipe dream but it's going to be hard to pull. get some uniquely light rims or mazdaspeed recaro seats for the same price and no one around the states is going to have those seats...same as the cf uim and lim. you're still unique.

I had to bring this one back! The biggest 2 advantages I see with a carbon fiber UIM would be less heat soak and less heat transfer. I noticed the other day after cruising on the interstate in 40 degree weather, that my UIM was still very warm. The piping at the IC exit was ice cold but not the UIM.
An all carbon fiber UIM would have been way cooler than the aluminum UIM's we have in this situation. The heat transfer from the engine, to the LIM, to the UIM due to "metal to metal" contact caused it to become warm (even in no boost situations). If you think about it this way, the in-comming air is heat from the turbos, cooled by the IC, and then reheated buy a hot UIM. Thats very ineffciant if you ask me!
Hey I just though of something. Has anyone ever had their LIM shorted and added a plastic spacer in its place? This buy itself would greatly cut down on this heat transfer to the UIM because the plastic wouldn't allow as much head transfer. This could be a cheap way to add some additional hp.

I remember this thread back then. The idea is still a good idea, and would definately be bad ***. The only problem is getting someone to pull it off. After they get this figured out, maybe they can make up a carbon fibre turbo (JK by the way)
