Car wont start, possible relay issues
I bought the car at the end of a rebuild and im trying to get it running. We are running into some issues. Obviously I have checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine. When i turn the key, i hear clicks but the stater will not engage and the starter signal wire is not getting power (we tested). It sounds like the egi relay is clicking but when removed and tested, (pg f174 mazda rx7 workshop manual if anyone has it) it appears this relay and the circuit relay (fuel pump relay) are not functioning correctly. The circuit relay is not clicking at all.
When the egi relay is removed, the fans spin. However when the relay is in, it does not. Is this normal?
Any help or ideas are appriciated. Thanks

I remember my fans behaving strangely when I was messing with relays, so that might be normal. When in doubt, grab a new relay. Never hurts to replace those things afte >10-15 years of use anyway.

The signal to the starter itself is VERY basic. It goes from the ignition switch, to the clutch pedal switch, to the relay for the security system, to the starter. You can have the whole ECU out of the car, half the car not there, and the starter will still work. It's a really basic circuit.
I'd start with the clutch switch. Make sure you're stepping on the clutch pedal too when you go to start .
