sup guys,

when I was driving my rx-7, suddenly it just wont rev up to 3000rpm and it happen in all gears. when I check the hood I notice that one of the hoses from the pressure chamber came loose so I plug it back but nothing changed. when I accelerate hard the fuel cuts around 3000rpm in all gears. but when I gas it slowly it will rev up to redline. please tell me whats wrong with the car. I suspect a leak or its the turbo? thanks!!!!

 

Typically if the car has gone into "limp" mode it won't go above 3k even with gas applied slowly. (Not positive) as it's been a long time since I've seen limp mode. Have you checked to see if any codes have come up ? I would also suggest checking the MAP sensor hose but you said nothing about thecar running rough so I doubt that's it.

 

Check your MAP sensor hoses. And look good/twice, as its easy to miss if you arent used to it

 

i agree with cantgostraight. this definitly sounds like limp mode. my car had the same problems a few monthes ago. my car wouldn't rev to redline though. the max it would go was to 4k and then it would cut out, but if i applied any gas passed 1/4 throttle it would shut down. check the enigine codes. mine was for the metering oil pump and it just turned out that the harness was frayed. soldered in some new wires and bam! all that power i had been lacking. good luck.

 

I have the exact same problem. Except my car will cut off if there is boost. I can hear ticking noise when the car get boost and within second the car will cut off. I suspect something is loose on the turbo control (maybe the gate on the waste gate) that cause some noise and trigger the knock sensor to cut off fuel. I never got a chance to find out what happen and I there is no engine code stored. Hope someone can help here too.
