Car Won't Crank, Taillights come on without key

Hey Guys,

Hoping you can help me out. I'm trying to start a car that hasn't been started in about two years and am having an electrical issue.

When I go to start the car I get nothing. The strange thing is, immediately upon connecting the battery, the taillights come on. I suspect this has something to do with my issue. Any suggestions would really help, and I will be watching this closely if you have any questions.

Thanks Phill. The spring is actually fine, the pedal just isn't aligned with it to press it fully. I'm searching at the moment on how to remedy this.

Nother bump. I'm having some trouble finding how I am supposed to adjust the pedal. The piece that is supposed to engage the clutch switch does not touch it when the pedal is untouched and sits slightly to the left of the clutch switch so that it's not able to fully engage it.

How do I move this?
