i had the same problem.. it would just turn off.. i could immediately turn it back on though.. its got something electrical to do with it, not sure what..

it happened to me in florida.. humid.. and i drove her up to North Carolina.. and the problem seemed to stay in florida as it has never happened again... *shrug*

had that same type of problem with another car. how is your battey? what aboutits terminals? do u head any clicking under your hood? that could indicate a relay going out.

thanks heaps for all ur replys,

i had the engine rebuilt around a year ago but i have only done around 3000miles since it was done,, the battery is only new but becuase i dont drive it much it has been recharged about 4 times,, i have been driving it a bit lately and its only just started happening in the last few days.

under the hood i can only hear my AVC-R solinod clicking..
when i normally crank it the avc-r only cliks when i first turn the car to on and the fuel pump etc gets power, but when the car turns off and i try to restart it as im cranking the avc-r keeps clicking as if its power source is coming and going. but after a wait one min and try again its back to normall,

Well its an electrical thing. Do you have the stock ECU? Mine crapped out and and would do this same exact thing. If it slowly die's out and turns off I'd look at the altenator. But if it just suddenly die's without ANY notice..I'd look at the ECU. If it doesn't end up being that..check the ignitor, then coils.

a very long time ago something of that nature happened to me. it turned out to be one of the wires inside the drivers wheel well that was shorting out on itself. i dont really remember which wire it was but it was definately part of the ignition.

no it doesnt but sometimes the headlight wont turn on or pop up and sometimes the blinkers wont turn on and sometimes they do,
when it cuts out i press the hazzard button so people around me know there is a problem and the hazzard lights go spastic and dont work.

check your common ground strap near the front bumper, its 2 white long conectors that shaped like a T on both the lest and right side of the front of the car, it has about 4 black wire connected to each. check the grounding on there, hope that helps

I would try another battery first, check for corrosion on wires, fuses and relays second. Try to think of all the things showing signs of malfunction and see if they are sharing a simular circuit. It sounds like a short or a grounding issue. Start looking around areas where you've modified or spliced into, like the ignition wires and switch. Inspect for melted connectors and burnt insulation on wires. Personal experenices with my FD right after it came back from a shop who didn't know what they were doing.
