Unhappy Car smokes at idel..

Hey guys this sucks....My 93 Touring seems to be smoking at idel...the color of the smoke is gray meaning oil. And It'll smoke when the car sits and idels for a few minutes. The smoke amount isn't a crap load but its not little. The Turbos were replaced about 17k ago. Not sure if they were rebuilt or new. I have the airpump removed but with upgraded ECU and Super AFC (from RX7.com) to subtract fuel from idel to help smooth out the idel. The car seems to run strong. What I did notice before was when ever I would screw with the idel adjustment the car would smoke alittle but just for a few start and park cycles and it would go away. I pulled off the turbo inlet tubes and very little oil residue....pulled off the plastic elbow by throttle body and no oil residue. O forgot to mention I had just finished replacing both throttle body gaskets, added an extra ground using one of the throttle body nuts, and changed the oil using what I've always used Royal Purple synthetic 20-50 with OE filter, and thats when the smoking started. The original paper gasket on the throttle body was really in bad shape it was actually missing a chunk replaced with metal OE. Maybe the turbos on the exhaust side is leaking the oil and burning it. dunno I hope u experts out there have an idea. P.S. sorry for the thread length. Thanx... Tony

I have a 94 (California emmissions) RX7. Everytime the car sits until cool (usually only when it sits over night) I will start it up and It will pour out smoke enough that you can't even see the car... Once you drive the car around the block and kick the turbo's in it will go away. So now I am forced to get in the car and the second I start it I have to race around the block (which is terrible for a car just warming up) Now I have my check engine light on and I did the diagnostic test and got code #16 which is the EGR valve (only on the California RX7's) My coolant light is also coming on and off and i see that around the coolant sensor there is a leak The only modification done to this car is the AST removal. (i don't think this leak or the AST removal has anything to do with the smoking problem) Is this problem similar to yours in any way?

Rotaryman, sounds like your car is running a little too rich. Are you putting the car in diagnostic mode when you adj the idle by jumping the TEN and GND terminals under the diagnostic port? Pull out the plugs to see if they are soiled. Also a cheap AF meter can tell you if you car is too rich. Ideal ratio should be 14:1. Better get this fixed bc you ruin UR engine.

Crai, you better fix the EGR or get rid of it. It's probably the reason you smoke a lot. Removing the AST is causing your coolant light to come on. The bubbles in the coolant is causing your light to come on bc you removed the AST!

The add coolant light and buzzer came on and off long before I took out the AST. Removing the AST actually helped the add coolant light go away for almost a month
