Car completely died ... help diagnose

Wel lI tried following the FSM but some of it just went over my head. Anyway, I was cruising around and went to the gas station ... as I turn in the car completely died. No stumbling, stuttering, or anything else.

Tried to crank it again, no luck. Theres spark/air going but doesnt seem like any fuel is making its way in.

I popped the hood and noticed the EGI fuse was blown, so I pulled the other 30A fuses and tossed them in to check and it blew those too (now no headlights or retractors lol). Didn't hear the fuel pump kickon.

I then jumped the Ground and Fuel Pump in the diagnostic box, and this time I heard the fuel pump come on... however the car still did not turn over.

What could be the problem here?

This is just a guess, but... I noticed that you have aftermarket wheels. Is it possible that a tire rubbed through a fender liner, and shorted out part of the wiring harness? This has been frequently mentioned as a cause of similar problems.

You probably have a short somwhere in the engine harness wiring that is blowing the EGI fuse. The car will not run with a blown EGI fuse. Could be what DaveW says, but in any case, you will need to trace the wiring to find the short.

Look at the inner fenders (plastic) from the wheel side and see 1st if it's worn thru and exposing wires in the harness. That will tell you if that is the problem. Then fix any exposed wires so they can't short. But even that was where the problem originated, you may have to do a more detailed electrical tracing test to determine what to fix. I haven't studied this, so I can't give you specific circuits to check.

Car definitely wont run with a blown EGI fuse. I had a car a couple years ago that had a leaky omp line getting oil on the primary injector connectors causing it to blow the fuse. I would check the connections for all the injectors and the wiring in that area. Also since it happened as you were turning into a gas station it is likely related to your wheels rubbing somewhere causing something to ground out.

Good luck
