Car audio gurus: any recommendations on a head unit?
Cool .... glad to see we are on the same page. The tweeter thing can work ... but it might take some effort on your part to really tune it. Also a high pass filter in the 8k to 10k region could help .... this is a trick Boston uses to much success. I have mixed feelings on the glass reflections topic so I'll leave it be.
I replaced the stock bose deck for a single din deck...
...a couple of years ago after the stock Bose deck crapped out.
I ended up having an older Sony faceplate tape deck and 10 disc changer(from an old car) installed using a $60.00 OEM adapter that allowed me to connect a non-bose deck to the BOSE Acoustic Wave speaker system. Having a 10-disc changer is cool. The Sony Changer never skipped even with stiffer, lowered suspension. Sony decks however suck! At least the two that I had(skipped alot).
I recently wanted better tunes so I was talked into ripping out the BOSE system for Diamond 6.5" spearates, 10" JL MicroSub & a Phoenix Gold 350 amp using the same sony deck and changer.
Let's just say DUMP THE BOSE CRAP! My system is 1000 times clearer and louder with zero distortion. I am so happy that I removed the Bose speakers! It wasn't cheap, though. $1500 bucks for the amp, speakers & installation(clean)
However if there are purists out there who want that factory stock look and want to buy my bose stuff email me @ jpandes@hotmail.com

What do you guys think about Blaupunkt units?? Here is a pic. of one I am going to get soon. It's a 50 watt but won't matter as I will be running it with my Bose amped speakers for now.
