Cant find the wire for the Fan Mod
I got the switch and everything hooked up and the wire which I thought was it was black with a yellow stripe it was with 2 other wires just above the ECU... a guy over the phone said I have the wrong wire. Can anyone give me a good explanation or even pic of where the correct wire is and what color? -thanks in advance!
this is for the simple grounding of the relay
ok, just grab a multimeter and test the voltage for the wire by turning the multimeter to DC voltage and connecting one end to ground and one end to the terminal/wire on the relay. If you do get voltage, don't try grounding that wire, if you dont get any voltage, then try grounding that wire by using another wire (at least 18-24gauge please). this means touching a wire to the wire/terminal (making sure to only touch that wire and not touch the other ones which might possibly have a positive charge) and brushing it to the side of the car/chassie very quickly (do it a couple of times). If fans turn on, bingo, thats the one. IF not, move on to the next wire. There are 2 relays you can ground that will give you the low and medium speeds (these are the 2 closes to the firewall). note that you will have to click one on for low and then click the other one on for medium. For the high, just turn on the A/C to heater or cold and it will boost it in to high.
good luck

In my car, I had to unbolt the ECU. Don't disconnect it. Just unbolt it and slide it out of the way. You should find a black wire with a yellow stripe. It will have a black plastic connector on the end of the wire. It should be just hanging there, easy to see.

I have a 94 Touring and a buddy thinks that maybe it has had the Fan Mod done at the dealership, by the previous owner. Cause the wire I have hooked up seems to be right. Will the 'FAN MOD RECALL" disrupt the fan mod Im trying to do?

Yes, the cooling recall should effect what you are trying to do, but I thought the cooling recall was '93 only (?). I assumed the 94-95's already had that recall done coming off the assembly line (but I've been wrong before).
Anyway, my '93 has the recall done, and that wire still didn't do anything for me. I could hear the relays switching, but the fans never came on. If you have the same problems, you might want to think about doing the Miata Thermo switch mod, or the other fan mod:
