Can you use 75W90 in the rear end?

I ordered a gallon of NEO 75W90 for my tranny. Can I use it in the rear end as well?

I have Amsoil 75w90 in both my transmission and rear differential. M2 actually recommended for me to use 75w90 in both cases. Good luck.

Stock capacities are 1.4 qts for the diff and 2.6 qts for the tranny. 75W90 is the recommended weight for the diff. My diff fluid was really ugly when I drained it -- all silver from the metal in it. It seems like the car would benefit from diff fluid changes every now and then (30K miles?).

Hmmmm....dude your scaring me! Maybe I too should check my diff., and my tranny. I'm kinda fearing that I have a broken 5th gear synchro though... man, will that suck. So they recommend 75W90? I think I'll go with royal purple!

Mazda Owners Manual:

Lubricant Quality:

Diff Oil:
API Service GL-4 or GL-5
Above 0degF: SAE90
Below 0degF: SAE80W

Man Trans oil:
API Service GL-4 or GL-5(SAE 75W-90)
Above 50degF API Service GL-4 or GL5(SAE 80W-90)

If you trust a shop that's made other recommendations and has evidence that it actually gives you some benefit, great! Else, deviate from Mazda's recommendations at your own risk.

Trust me you can tell the difference if you do change the diff. and tranny fluids. For the differential fluid change, definetly get a gas mask. I almost puked. I use Mobil 1 when I use synthetics.
