i know that you can control timing with the PFC but can it be done with the MSD unit?

It seems like it should work, but why use the MSD unit if you can get more adjustability from less boxes with a PowerFC, AEM EMS, Haltech, etc.? Unless you are sliding under some competition rule barrier, it doesn't make much sense to me. I think the retard boxes are intended for non-turbo cars that you added a turbo to, which isn't the case with the FD.

One possible issue is that you are likely to only get control over the leading ignition, which should always fire no later than the trailing. If you make a big adjustment, you could break the rules. You could get more boxes for the trailing ignition, I suppose, but they fire as often as a 2-cylinder four stroke, which I am not sure is within the settings range for the box. You could probably set it as a four cylinder and half (or double?) the amount of adjustment you want. But you would have a totally insane kludge of an ignition control system at that point, so I hope no one ever puts themselves in the position of needing to try that.

The big question remains: why?

now to answer your question: i thought this would be alot cheaper that buying a PFC. but i guess its not worth it.
