can a turbo just stop one day?
can a turbo just stop one day?
Can something go wrong in the twins to stop the secondary actually physically stop pushing air? I have the usual 12-3-3 problem but I dont get it.
The charge control works beautifully it moves at 4500 no problem.
The charge releif works nicely. Even still I blocked the damn thing up - no difference.
The turbo control seems to be working, you can hear the exhaust pitch totally change at 4500 and back when it drops below 3250.
There doesn't seem to be any boost leaks, I've pulled the intake pipes god knows how many times and cant find a thing.
It's a factory efini so the y-pipe seems fine.
The BOV works correctly.
It seems like the turbo just has better things to do!
I have EMS control over all the solenoids so I changed the changeover point up to 6000rpm and the little first turbo pushed 12psi dropping slowly to 9psi by 6000rpm so the boost leak idea looks weak anyway.
Any ideas?

My secondary wasnt working, but I installed an efini Y pipe and checked out all my vacum hoses and that fixed it. Its probably a vacum hose, I am almost sure your turbos wont just crap out overnight. Just check all your vacum hoses I bet thats what it is.

I agree it probably a vacum line/check valve/or a solinoid, when my factory turbo on my Saab went bad and it was the oil seals so it smoked alot. On the other hand I would think that if the turbo were binding you would have at least hurd it squealing before it locked up on you and if it did lock up the motor at that point wouldn't run or it would run very poor because there is no easy path for the exaust to excape from the motor.
