Lightbulb Can tt manifold be repaired or purchased seperately?

I have bad cracks in my secondary turbo manifold on the stock twins. Has anyone ever tried to repair them? Has anyone ever tried to purchase either 1/2 or the whole manifold seperatley from the whole turbo unit?

Is it feasable (converting to parallel) to custom build a SS manifold sharing one wastegate or two SS manifolds?

Garfinkle has had several sets repaired . He grinds out all around the ports ,not just the cracks . Then has the port welded with the proper type rod . The castings are then resurfaced ,then he matches the ports back to the gasket or modifies the port shape ,size .This is all not cheap but works very well . An other customer is bringing two sets soon so the best parts can be repaired to build one good set . He reworked the cracked set that BNR sent him and then Brian built him the set with bigger turbos mated to the exhaust housings . The welder must have a way to preheat the castings in order to do it correctly . So far as David knows none have had cracks return . Only a few have been rechecked as a recheck involves removing the units .

Goracer--I responded at the other forum.

The answer is no, unfortunatly MAZDA here at least wont sell them, they can even get a part number for them. I tried on several parts on my request due to the cracking of the little piece between the wastegate and the exhaust port.

The last set he did was from BNR with many cracks, plus included welding the big manifold also . The cost to the welder and machinest was $350 .that does not include Davids time grinding and reshaping . Rotorbrain saw the set and can tell you if he thinks they will flow well . The regular repair of two housings is usually about $250 to the welder and machinest . I think on the set comming David is going to do the mill work hisself . He has a welder but no furnace to preheat the parts in .

Thats a pretty good deal, since cracks are pretty common on this set-up and no replacement parts for the most part........nice...

If the cracks do not come back and the set up flows better and cost less than a new set , then it is a good way to go if you want to keep twins .The complete job is alot of work but cost less than new twins that will crack and not flow as well .
