Can someone please post pics of their aftermarket ignition mounts/setup??

I got a jacobs ignition, I searched for awhile and couldn't find much for pictures of where to mount it. If anyone has a good place to mount it, and can take some pictures that would be nice. I am also using MSD Blaster 2's for the Leading coils.

Pics would be a great help! I plan on doing my setup this weekend, so ideas are a helpful.

Thanks,
-Darren-

I tucked my Crane HI-6 behind my relocated relay box, on the driver's side of the engine bay. My battery was relocated to the driver's side bin behind the driver's seat, so there was no interference.

I had my Jacobs box attached to and below the bar that supports the air box and innercooler , battery tray. It was above the fans on the passenger side. Iam using two Jacobs ultra coils for trailing ,65000 volts and a Dis coil for the leading at 45000 volts . The new AEM ignition is working well after several new ones .I made the bar to be adjustible so the innercooler can be lined up to the duct .The battery tray is custom made also .I sold the Jacobs amp so no pictures .

Sorry don't have any pics, but I put my Crane on the floor right behind my drivers seat. Keeps the engine bay a little less cluttered, worked good for me.

WTF is up with the recent obsession with "cleaning up" the engine bay (relocating fuse, relay, and distribution blocks to the bins, etc.)? Do people simply have too much free time on their hands?

Personally, I'd think twice before adding ~20 feet of wire to a high current ignition box just to keep it out of the engine bay. Then I'd think again. Maybe you could make some custom 15-foot plug wires and relocate your coils to the hatch...

I still had my A/C (and ****) at the time those pictures were taken, so there is room. Here's where we mounted a friend's HI-6 (w/ASP medium IC and battery miniaturization kit)...

20 ft. huh, you must have a really long rx-7. You'll have to post some pics of that, lol.

Failed math, huh?

The ignition box wiring forms a loop from the coil signal wires to the box mounted behind your seat, then back to the coils, if you left them in the stock location. Add in a few twists and turns to tuck the wires behind panels and carpet, and you have 20 feet of wire pretty easily...

Your right, since I installed it I wouldn't know how much wire I used. What was I thinking, thanx for the up and up though. Good thing everyone on this forum is such a genius.

So exactly how much wire did you add on to the harness the ignition computer came with in order to mount it behind your seat, and how much wire was already on the harness? You have no idea, do you.

Well, here's a nice shiny red square for your reputation and enjoy the rest of your day.

I bought a FD that had a Crane HI-6 installed under the seat by PFS.

WOW, your just too quick witted for me. Like I said, good thing that I have the resident genius to set me straight. You probably like to talk just to hear your own voice don't you.

I suspect you'll reply w/ some other insignificant response, however I'm done wasting my time w/ you. Have a nice day. FWIW, good luck w/ your install dhahlen.

Translation: I'm right.

So after making a big stink about it, you don't have the first clue how much wire you actually added. Worse, now that you've had the time to stop and think about it, you know damn well that I was right about the round trip from the coils to behind your seat and back to the coils being about 20 feet. But the bottom line is that you're pissed because you actually thought you'd done something cool before I mentioned how goddamned stupid it was.

Hey jimlab, translation is you're an idiot. If your so right then take a tape out to your car and measure from the firewall, where my coils are, to right behind the seat. It won't be 20ft there and back, but since your such a genuis then I'm sure you'll figure out some way to make it. It's ok that you don't know everything, don't get so huffy. I am right though, you do talk to hear your own voice don't you.

Installed correctly, with wires running from the coils in the stock location, out of the opening at the back of the engine bay, through a grommet behind the fender liner, behind the driver's side kick panel, under the carpet to the back of the seat and back again? Or are you one of those hacks who likes to drill holes in your firewall, and you ran the wire directly to the box without bothering to hide it because it was too much work to pull up the carpet? You probably used band-aids on all the wire splices because you were out of wire nuts.

News flash... this just in... GAME OVER... pearlyellow: 0, jimlab: 3...

Darren,

You'll need to run one ignition box per MSD coil or you'll burn up the ignition box. I have two Jacobs FC1000s and two Crane LX91s on the lead ignition and trailing remains stock.

The second box is sandwiched underneath this one.
