Can someone explain the unusual gearing in this FD tranny?

I picked up a JDM tranny a while back and just got around to examining the ratios. 5th gear in this box is about .76-- That's right, I said .76:1.00.

The stock US domestic 5th gear is .719;

I understood the JDM's 5th gear to be .806;

could this .76 could actually be the .758 used in the TII tranny's?

And why would this gear be in a JDM FD gearbox?

Anyone? And yes, I searched on this, but could not turn up a definitive answer.

Thanks
