There are two "BOV" looking things connected to the stock y pipe. The front one is the BOV. The second one is there to release excess boost from the 2nd turbine.

you can vent both the CRV and the BOV...both are "Bovs". even though thye have different part numbers, i dont see how their function is any different. But yeah, you can vent both of them to the atmosphere.

yeah, you can just place an aftermarket BOV in place of the second valve.... mine is an HKS SSQV (super sequential blow-off valve)... i'm not too sure about the fitment, this one was ordered for a 2000 Audi S4 and he doesn't use it anymore so i threw it in.. just make sure you cap the 'nipple' off the back of the air box (still need to do that)...
by the way, i had to stretch the hose out with some needle-nose pliers just to get it to fit over the BOV... not too bad though, i just disconnected the other end which made it much easier outside of the engine bay and then connected it when i had the hose clamped to the BOV.... don't worry about which direction the BOV is facing, you'll still be able to hear it and it will still function as intended, even if it's facing down (like mine).... it's the top hose on the passenger side of the air box (you should be able to figure it out, it's got the stock valve a few inches away from the airbox)
EDIT: i don't have a problem with hood clearance either
