CALLING all tow hooks

just curious what you guys are using besides the feed/Rennemetal tow hooks... also does any one have a tow hook with the stock front bumper and a FMIC? im assuming theres gonna be cutting involved....

anyone try universal ones and fabbed it up to fit? i was looking into this but without the rear portion on my car im not sure how to bend the hook around so it will come out parallel from the street vs straight down..

anyone using rennemetals standalone rear tow hook? is it compatable with the botttom lip of the rear bumper?

I have it on my car and it works without any fitment issues. I'll try to get a picture of it if I can today. I also bought the front one but I havent installed it yet.

RE Amemiya has a tow hook for use with FMIC, you would have to cut the 1 inch hole on the bumper though.

Here you go: FMIC and stock bumper! Towhook from RennenMetal (not for FD3S).

I have the tow hook on the right for sale (PM me if interested)

Some cutting is required. (My friend, who owns an autobody shop, told me not to tell anyone he did the job until we 'clean it up.' He wants to rivet a carbon fiber panel around it. I dont care either way.)

Let me talk to the main photographer from the shoot and I'll start a new thread if I get the green light.

ZumspdRX-7: I see you've mounted it onto the ferry tie down hook. While I'm sure thats fine for getting dragged out of the sand traps, and up onto the tow trucks, it is NOT solid enough for a long distance towing. I made the mistake myself, and after 15kms of towing, the bracket sheared all the bolts going into the frame & came right off. Shattered some of the undertray parts & bent the front bumper temporarily (enough to cause the paint to crack in places).

Bubbles- didn't mean to get off topic. is that what you were looking for? I can get more pics if you need.

Enervation- as you said, that is more then solid enough to get me back to the pits and onto a trailer if I go farming. I would never have my car physically towed by the tow hook more then that, regardless of how solid it was (no offense, sounds like a horrible idea.)

Well I was looking for options to install my hook and I was looking through my parts bin and found some thick steel brackets with holes. So I started putting it in diffrent locations till I found a perfect spot for the hook.

I used one of the bottom oem tow hook bolt holes. Then I drilled and tapped for another. Everything was grade 8 and I did a test pull and it worked superb!

Tow hook comes out in less than 2 mins with out removing body parts or trims. I also didnt have to cut or trim anything.

heres a odd question........ what do you guys use the tow hook for? draging/pulling your car? or like pulling it on a flat bed/ trailer?

just wondering because i would use it for when i get towed (cuz the stock points will bend the 99 spec lip) but then i realized i bottom out anyway so its kinda half useless?

1- a lot or tracks require tow hooks and the factory ones suck because they are too hidden

2-you will have to make some modifications in order to retain some type of hook on a lowered car regardless . But the tow hooks u been seen are only good for pulling really quick of the track

Anyone have any tow hooks on their 99 bumper?

I was looking at my bumper and i have space through the oil cooler opening. I can see the bracket where the tow hook would mount to but it has to be angled when it comes out of the bumper. I just wanna see what you guys got.
