Smile Ca Smog Pre test taken street port

I got a pre-test on my 93 FD street port. I am using a S-AFC map tweaker, a digital volt meter and I missed it by a hair. The 25 mph "HC" was just a bit over the max. The CO at 25 mph was just about 10% below the cut point. I think I have some room to remove a bit more fuel. Considering how this thing runs with out the S-AFC installed and setting it up to remove fuel it did real good. I think removing just a bit more at 2K and 25 mph will do the trick. The fuel mixture at 2k is just a bit rich. I have it set at -20% there now and I will set it up with a $9.00 volt meter. Now I will have to duplicate the conductions, IE let it run with my fans on as the tech did for 30 minutes while he stared at the engine trying to grasp what the f*** he was looking at and where are the systems he's trying to test. I can't blame him for that because most gas station guys don't see these engine packages. My engine with out the S-AFC creates about 10 inches of vacuum and runs so fat in a garage it will kill in 10 minutes. I have it set up to remove 20% of the fuel/map sensor input starting at about 1800 rpm and going up to about 6k. Idle (800 rpm) to 1600 rpm it is set up to remove about 30%. My DVOM at boost is reading .88 to .90+ so its not going to lean out. Just thought I would let you guys know a street port set up with something as basic as a S-AFC can pass Ca. dyno testing. I will set it up and have it tested later this week.

Thanks for sharing, I'll be coming back to this post in a year or so when I've got to test again and my motor is in. Josh

I passed with a mild street port once. I had to put the pre-cat back on, though. I was just a hair over the limit and the pre-cat got me just under. The pre-cat didn't do much, but it was enough to get my car to pass. I was using a high-flow cat at the time, too.

Each of you guys who passed didn't have any type of outside fuel control? So what kind of porting doesn't effect the engine vacuum? I see it as one important input (vacuum) which is tied to a set of other knowns. With the vacuum signal no longer in sync it should be way off. I guess if you had a great set of cats it would or could clean it up for a short time. I will say my pre-cat is empty and I have a add on cat which is about 1/3 the size of the factory one. Good going guys, except sorry for the apex seal. I see "maxpesce" you are not the typical FD owner. Nor am I, as they say "long in the tooth" Ha Ha Ha
