c washer removal

in the middle of replacing a broken 5th gear syncro... hooray

I can't seem to get the c washers off which can be seen pictured in step 10 picture #2 in this link: http://mahjik.homestead.com/files/ho...o/synchro.html

Anybody know how to get these off?

There is a thin retainer ring holding those two C-clips together. Use a pick and pull up the thin ring and then the two C-clips will slid out....
