A/C problem.

A/C problem.
Ok well I just recharged my A/C with R-134a. Worked fine for a few days. Then I took out my air pump and now my a/c alternates on and off when I turn it on. Just cruising you can feel the power loss and gain when the a/c kicks on and off every 3 secs.
It still blows air at the same rate but the compressor is kicking on and off kinda fast, like I said every 3 secs. Turn off the A/C and the car runs and idles fine. I think it might be the compressor switch or do you think it's my whole compressor giving out(compressor clutch)?
I know these cars are notorious for things going wrong if you do anything to the car, like putting on a dp and then suddenly you get 2 psi and it's a different problem.
I'll connect my air pump back and let it idle and see if the compressor cuts on and off then later today.
Also a side not, I want to run a resistor for my air pump switch, what size do I need?

you've go the wrong amount of freon in your system... it should be @ 85% of what is required for the R-12... Also check your viewer on your dryer... (little window) and look for the green gas. If you don't see any when the pump is on... the tubes are empty and youve got a leak.

Do you have gauges? One thing that is a fact of R134A is it has a higher condensing pressure. If the high side gets to around 375 PSI approx, the compressor high side switch will disengage the compressor. And the highside pressure is directly related to outside temp and airflow through the condensor. If it was working fine and it was just a little cooler outside, that could be it. Is your condensor/Radaitor in stock location? You need tons of AIRFLOW through the condensor for it to work well.
