A/C out on 93 touring

So my A/C went out a few weeks ago on my 93. I took it to the dealer and they quoted me $2300 bucks. Holy sh*t are you kidding me? So I call Maz-Max here in houston and they said they were surpised the dealer could fix it that cheap. Has anyone else had to replace their A/C? Why would the evap coil, Compressor and dryer ALL have to be replaced? I don't get it. The car is in excellent shape. No mods and only 33k original miles.

On my 7 it was just some bad washers and it was about $150 total for recharge, labor, washer, etc. On my Honda $135 for compressor, $150 for labor cause I loose warranty if installed myself and you need to vacuum out the air anyhow. There was a bad switch he called it, could have been a relay.

Once you have a good replacement ($150) then go to a A/C specialist shop and have them install ($150), vacuum out the air and then replace the freon/R134 ($90). You're total should be approximately $450.00
