I couldn't figure out why one of my fans wasn't working, the wiring and the other fan worked fine, so I pulled it apart and found the motor to be fried. Hopefully you wont have this problem, since the fans are very expensive from mazda, and not too cheap used. Sorry this isn't super helpful, but good luck anyways. Josh

wait, both of my fans are not working, would it be possible that the problem is electrical? since its almost impossible for two motors get fried at the same time..or is it?

don't race, don't need to
Another thing you can try is grounding the terminal listed as "TFA" in the diagnosis box. To do this, find the little plastic box labled Diagnosis next to the battery (just behind it, really). Open the top of that box. Inside the lid of the box, you will see a schematic of the different terminals and their relevant locations. With the key turned to "on" (where the indicator lights are lit on the dashboard), place a wire from the TFA terminal in the diagnosis box to one of the terminals lables GRD (for ground). The fans should turn on. If only one turns on, the other is burnt out needs to be replaced. Make sure you verify both are on or not. You need to pull the intake cross over box (the black flat thing in the very front held on by two 10 mm bolts) If neither turn on, you need to look to the relays to make sure they are ok. If you already did this, then trace further back.
In your upper photo, the "R" is the AST. The part you labled "AST" is actually the filler neck, where you should check your coolant level. The "coolant" label is for the overflow tank.
There should be a pressure cap on the AST (the part you labled as "R"). A pressure cap has the spring and the lower sealing ring. The filler neck (where you labled AST) should have only a flat cap. This should have no spring, only a piece of rubber on the very inside of the cap itself. The lable "Never open" is just the torn version of "Never open while hot! Serious injury could result"
You want a level in the overflow about halfway up the stick between the F and E marks When the engine is dead cold. It will fill when the engine is hot, but should drop back down when the engine cools off. You want the filler neck to be as full as possible, and you want it to stay that way evey time you check the level at the filler neck when the engine is dead cold. The AST should remain full as well.
Hope this helps...

i guess the problem is the fan's motor. neways, i called 3 warehouses already to order a new one but they dont have it in stock, and they can't order it for me (WTF). can u guys give me a good warehouse or website i can order from.. thanks for your help bro.
ohye, please give me some knowledge here. what causes the fan(motor whatever) to blowup? does overheating has to do something wit it? driving under super hot weather? or just fans being too old.

You have the AST and R labled incorectly in the top photo. The plastic thing is the AST. The metal thing is refered to as the filler neck and (radiator) filler cap in the manual.
Is your A/C pulley not turning in the second picture?
Try Mazdatrix, Mazdaformance for the oem fan motors and jt-imports for the newer '99+ motors.

Well, maybe you just pressed the A/C button but didn't put the dial on anything before...or you did and it really is F'ed up!
Okay, check it out for a another day...meaning put it on on A/C and "1" and see if it comes on every time. If it comes on, it's probably the water thermosensor. Meaning the fans are okay, but the ECU is just not being able to turn it on. Hope that helps, I had a similar problem two months ago...
