Building up front plate inner coolant groove wall

Guys,

I had the thin coolant seal groove wall snap on me this morrning. I have a spare plate which is now fully cleaned up but i want to build up the wall a bit to make it stronger and try and ensure it doesnt happen again. Can i just use standard epoxy resin or does it have to be a metallic type deal? How much do i build it up by?

Any advice and/or pictures of finished articles would be much appreciated

Thanks

Bob

I guess you should go for a material that is as close to the plate material for adhesiveness purposes between both materials and to minimize expansion force between them. To much difference in expasion will make the material break loose and wander around in your coolant. You dan't want to see that end up in your waterpump.

I swear I've seen a pic where someone used an old side seal and some epoxy to repair & reenforce a broken o-ring groove. I searched but couldn't find a pic. I think it was posted on nopistons by someone like Howard Coleman or Lynn E. Hanover.
