building a seperate fuse box?

i am sure someone probably have done this or did a write up... but i just can't seem to find anything on this. i have gauges, boost controller, rewire fuel pump, AI, HID headlight conversion.... but now i just basically splice the power off the radio (except HID of course)...

has anyone done a write up or can show in a diagram how i can use a spare fuse location in the fuse box or make another fuse box to support the additional electrical load? if so how would you do the wiring??

I would make a separate box. You can buy these. Run a switched power right to the battery and then wire your electronics off that. It would be nice instead of doing inline fuses everywhere which I do now. But if installed correctly, like mine are I never have issues once everything is installed so I personally don't see a need for my personal use.

+1 on not needing to build one.

http://www.stanford.edu/~sunid/battery/

This details how to wire up an extra fusebox to run your in car electronics. It's part of a larger writeup on relocating your battery from the engine bay, but you should be able to adapt it for your needs.

Why would you do this on anything but a race car?

Painless Wiring has a really nice small fuse block that's great for this purpose. I had one in my old FC. Has a built-in relay so you can have a number of hot and switched inputs, all pro quality, with wire already terminated into the block.
