Okay my car broke again last night. It wont go in any gear and the clutch pedal is stiff and i hear a metal clunk. This isnt the first time it happend to me, I know its the throw out bearing I broke. This is my 2nd time i broke the throw out bearing Im guessing since im running a xtreme 6 puck unsprung the throw out bearing isnt strong enough. Has anyone else had this problem with there xtreme 6 puck unsprung? Do they make an aftermarket throw out bearing that will hold? What did you guys do to eliminate this problem? Help is greatly appreciated thanks.

 

I would think it's your pilot bearing not the throw out bearing if you still have a solid pedal. If it is your throw out bearing then you must have a really stiff pressure plate as the 6 puck clutch wouldn't have any effect on your throw out bearing.

Its not his pilot. I helped him fix it the first time. Last time it did this it had cracked the throwout bearing almost completely in half. Whats really strange is I've got a Spec 4puck (which should be much more aggressive) and havent had any issues. Im thinkin maybe he needs to adjust his clutch pedal. Or maybe he didnt torque the clutch plate on evenly and one side of the clutch has more pressure than another side.


Okay. Problem found via conversation with rion on aim. Do NOT use air tools to put your clutch plate on. The clutch and flywheel have specific torque settings. Failure to torque it on at these settings will cause premature failure of it or other clutch related parts (in this case, the throw out bearing). The clutch goes on at something like 14lb/ft. Not 200lb/ft. I'll have to look it up. I cant remember.

 

But Mike u have to remember your clutch is sprung. So u get less chatter so its not as aggresive.
