Unhappy brakes are cutting in an out.... WTF?

alright this has been goin on since yesterday, somtimes when i get on the brakes, there is no pressure and pedal goes straight to the floor and i just keep on rolling along, and then i can let off it and *SOMETIMES* the brakes "kick back in" and the brake pedal has some resistance and acutally throws me forward a little when i stomp on it, and at other times, there is just a little resistance and it slows me down VERY slowly, so i have to use the E brake with it....

does anyone know whats going on, its very random...

thanks

Check around for leaks in the lines or you might have a BUNCH of air in the system. Try bleeding them (all 4 corners thoroughly). Diagnose form their and reply here with results. Is it time for a brake change for you?

It sounds like your brake booster is shot.....

Start the car and pump the brake pedal. Listen for vac leaks...if so, replace it. It might also be air in your system..drain, refill, bleed.

You may also want to check the clutch lines (clutch shares the same reservior). I had a leak in my clutch line which first affected my brakes - then I couldn't change gear...

This sounds bad. I seriously hope you're not still driving the car on the streets. I'd hate to be the guy stopped in front of you at a stop light when you don't have brakes to slow you down from 40mph.
