Brake Fluid leak.

So iv had a small leak that i havent been able to find and would have to add brake fluid about once a month or the light would go on.. I was changing my oil and plugs today when i noticed on the front part of the tranny a little fluid which i believe it to be brake fluid. Doesnt smell like gas or transmission fluid.

The slave cylinder doesn't look wet at all and i am not to sure where it could be coming from.

Any ideas? I see this little hole (marked in red) that not sure where it goes to or if it is anything. sorry for the crappy iphone pics

Do you have to pump up the pedal before the brakes work?
Have you pulled off the wheels to look at the lines and calipers?
Trace all lines from the master?

The clutch slave is really the only place I can think of that comes even close to there. Did you tighten up the slave bleeder screw?

That hole I only goes to the bell housing.

Well I checked front and rear calipers and don't see any leaks. I don't necessarily have to pump the brake but I sometimes feel it that I have to do 1 pump to really feel solid, but the car stops fine if I don't but it's still noticeable. Don't think the leak is huge but I want to fix it before I change rotors and super blue fluid

Did you open up the trans inspection plate and peek inside?

usually when the slave fails it leaks out the plunger, which is inside the transmission bellhousing, go figure.

the brake master also feeds fluid to the clutch system.

The amount of oil you keep adding, tells me you will see the leak.
Sorry, start at the master and follow the lines.

So I had time and brought my car to the lift checked all the brakes and no leaks.. checked the slave cylinder and i believe its leaking very very little from the left side of where it connects. I had my gf in the car pumping the clutch as i was looking, i have a video of this and you can just barely see it on the bottom left of the video also see the dried up brake fluid all around.

not sure if you can see it well on this, i will reupload on youtube later.

It is visible. No need to reupload.

That is definitely not supposed to leak, luckily it is easy to replace. I sugest bench bleeding the replacment before installing it for the final bleeding.

The slave cylinder isn't too expensive, I replaced mine recently and it was under $100. It might be a good idea to replace the rubber clutch line also, unless you know yours has been replaced recently. Mazdatrix and a few others provide aftermarket teflon/stainless clutch lines for under $50.

already happened to me, and swapped it out for a used one maybe 4-5 months ago.

Ss clutch line was done in years ago, made sure to upgrade what needed to be done.... Does the cylinder have maybe a gasket that needs to be replaced? Or do you really need a whole new one? I havent had any issues with the clutch pedal at all.. Now I need to figure out why the Fk my car won't start... Out of the blue this happened. Gotta check for spark when If I get out of work early enought today.

no gasket for the slave, nothing else really needed either.

aftermarket about the only thing you likely will find is Centric brand units, which are decent quality but about $75. OEM is probably going to set you back a little over a bill.
