Question Braided stainless steel line to stock hose barb

This is probably the stupidest question, but I thought I would ask.

Because of this odd fuel filter setup I am toying with, I am really running short on room coming out of the fuel send line. So much that I doubt I could fit a AN hose end that converts to a hose barb. If I turn the filter horizontal it runs close to the ignition system... spark & fuel - no good.

Since there is a rubber fuel line inside the braided line, would it be possible to put this on the stock barb? If need be, I dont mind cutting away some of the steel. I tried it with a worm gear clamp around the steel. If I pulled on it hard enough it would slide some; but, I could get it tight to where it wouldn't come off the flare at the end

I am trying to think of another way around this w/o spending much more time / money on the fuel system. I thought I would ask the ignorant question in the mean time.

Thanks,
Chris

If you have a worm drive clamp on it the hose should be fine. Pressurize the fuel system and test for fuel leaks around the hose barb area.

Chris, If you do not have room for an adapter, then yes, back off some of the braid and clamp directly on the rubber only. Should not be a problem. As Dan said, pressurize and test for leaks after.
