Bracket from Driver's Door

Wife opened the driver's (LH) door of our '94 FD yesterday, and this bracket fell onto the garage floor. I'll probably have to remove the inside door panel to find its correct location, but meanwhile can anyone tell me what it's for? (It's 3-1/8" x 1".)

Thanks!

I don't understand how something from inside the door panel could fall out onto the floor. The door panel should be sealed. Maybe that part isn't even from your car.

Most importantly, your wife should only be opening the passenger door of your car.

That's the bracket that holds the door plastic to the door panel. That one in particular you have, goes just forward of the map pocket, and just behind the door cup. Basically in the middle of the map pocket and door cup. I have a tendency to over complicate things...

^Yep, that's it. Probably been loose for a while and finally found an opportunity to escape the door panel.

Thanks much for the answers! (adam c, it's my wife's car... bought it for her in Sept. 1994.)

Fixed. Both self-tapping screws had been ripped out of the plastic power-switch/door handle assembly (the non-removable part) and took the top parts of the bosses with them. I found the screws, but now they were to short to engage the remainder of the bosses. So I found two longer ones in my hardware collection and re-mounted the bracket. The two white "locator pins" at the top of the large panel were a problem... the rear one was dropping into a too-large hole in the door with no socket to retain it, and the forward one did have the socket, but i decided to remove it and buy/install two new locator pins, which had the sockets attached to them. Also I bought three new plastic fasteners, which were needed to properly hold the lower edge of the door panel to the door; the old ones were badly messed up. The locator pins were $10 each, and the plastic fasteners were about $1.40 each. The panel reattached with no problems.

(P.S. There were two business cards inside the door, at the bottom!)
