Boost problems

OK guys if anyone out there can just ease my mind and help me out i would greatly appriciate it. OK heres the deal.

I got a stock 93 5 speed with 64000 miles. runs great. I put hks downpipe catless mid, and greddy sp2 on it. It already has a hks intake.

I switched out the rubber line from the waste gate to the turbo and put a one without a pill( restrictor, whatever it is ) in there. i took it out. only 7 pounds. primary and secondary. hits 7 and nevers goes any were else. so i bought a turboxs manual boost controller. put it on there. opend it up allllll the way. lowest boost setting and it spikes really bad. 10 pds primary and it hits 12 on secondary and i let out. i mean it will just keep going if i stay in it. on so then i put on another piece of rubber tubing i just had laying arond so i could drive it. and i take it out and it runs at 9 pounds primary and around 7 secondary. ahhhhhhhhhhh what is going on.

please someone throw something out there. thanks

Interesting... so what exactly did you do to only get 7lbs initially???

Cap off the other end of the actuators and use the manual boost controllers.

If you take out the restrictor pill like you did, the system only makes 7 PSI - so that is normal.

There are a few good threads (with pics!) in the FAQ thread and in the Archives for setting up a manual boost controller. Check them out.

Keep it under 10 PSI unless you want to blow your motor. For more on that read the FAQ thread.

Yes, it's bad if the cap pops off or splits. Use something better than the basic parts-store vacuum cap, and you'll be fine. A short section of vacuum hose with something plugging the end is actually a lot more durable than a basic vacuum cap.

If you want a really clean look, McMaster-Carr sells vacuum caps made from better rubber materials.
