Boost Problems

I wanted to see if anyone could help me figure out the problem with my turbos on my car. I have a 94 Black PEP Rx-7.

When I run the car hard I get a normal boost pattern in 1st and 2nd gear, but when I hit 3rd gear I get no boost at all. The odd part is that when I go into 4th gear there is no boost for a moment or two and then suddenly my gauge is reading 15 psi. I have no clue what my problem is. When that 15 psi kicks in I don't really feel a sudden boost of power. It feels more like about 8 lbs of boost.

Here are my current modifications to my car incase anyone wants to know.

- Petitt Column Mount Boost Gauge
- Pettit Down Pipe
- Racing Beat Exhaust

The rest of the car is stock. Oh and I already put the pill in the line going to the wastgate control/actuator like Pettit told me in their instructions with the down pipe.

Here are the things that I'm thinking about checking out:
- Resetting the ECU
- Checking the Acutuator for the wastgate control and the turbo precontrol

Does anyone have any opinions or any other ideas?

- Cody

When you say normal boost pattern what do you mean? Are you seeing 10-8-10? Most of the time the boost test is done in 3rd gear, so focus on that for now. Do the test and let us know what you get.

If you get boost in 1st, 2nd, and 4th, but none in 3rd that's pretty weird. Resetting the ECU would be a good thing to try.

Check Valves

Does anyone know of a way to check the WHITE check valve behind the manifold without taking the manifold off. I'm just trying to look for an easy way to check it without spending a few hours taking off everything around it.

Turbo Control Solenoid

I ran a boost test that I found from someone's website. I think I found the problem, but I need some help finding something. Where is the one way check valve that supplies vacuum to the turbo control solenoid and what color is it?

Supposedly, most of the 94's and 95's didn't use pills, they had restrictors built in. My car has higher boost in first and 2nd then 3rd also, but it's only a pound or 2 difference.
