Boost Problems ?

Weird problem started happening last night..

I launched pretty hard last night. 1st gear pulled normally, 2nd felt a bit weak then 3rd made some low toned whining noise and felt like the turbos weren't boosting. I'm pretty sure it wasn't boosting because I didn't hear my BOV and there wasn't any power. I got a bit nervous, so I backed off. After I backed off, it seemed like it was running fine. I got back on it for a second, and it was good. I tried it again and it made the low whining noise in 1st gear... It seems like when I launch medium/hard it does this. Anyone have any ideas?
Unfortunately I just sent my Defi boost gauge back to RX7store.net because the needle sat @ 5lbs when the car was off and @ idle. I'm still waiting for a new one.

check your vac hoses to the bov and also under the crossover pipe to the pre-spool and wastegate.

Check to see if this noise only appears at transition/4500 rpms.If it does then its a secondary boost problem.

What I would suggest is to take the car out for a while and have a friend ride along. Then have him or her look at your rpms and see when this problem occurs.I had the same symptoms when my charge control valve wasnt opening. Most of the time it would start at 4500 rpms and above but once in a while it would do it before 4500 rpms.Probably at like 4000 rpms.Which threw me off a bit.

Where is the charge control valve located?

I had the same symptoms when I drove the car when it was cold.Once the car warmed up ot acted differently. The ccv is located in the back half of the y pipe.
The solenoid that controls it however is located underneath the upper intake manifold. The one that sits horizontally with the 4 runners.I hope youre familiar with taking this off and putting it back on.It can be a pain in the *** if you havent done it yet.

OK... Just ran it again and the symptoms popped up. @4500 rpm, the turbo "whistle" stops (consistantly). Seems like a secondary turbo problem. Wonder where I should start...

Pop the hood and first look for any disconnected hoses. Look at pressure/vacuum chamber infront of the UIM. Once mine popped off at this vacuum chamber and I didnt get any secondary boost...

Also, check for a bad CRV or CRV hose leak.
