Boost Problem (did search) PLEASE Help
Hey guys,
All of a sudden, my boost pattern went from normal (8-10-8 or 8-11-8 to not boosting above 4 at any time, and it lags before boosts to 4. I did a search and nothing seemed quite like this one. It's quite probable that it's a clogged cat. I got an inspection done a couple of months ago and the guy found that the hose going from the air pump to the cat was cracked so no fresh air was getting pumped down there. The car occassionally does the 'bucking rx' thing (one attribute many of you have said was a clogged cat as well). The idle is higher (1400 as opposed to the 1000 I had it set at). Primary spools up but not responsively, and the blow off is considerably more quiet. Aside from making sure any vaccum lines havn't come loose, what can I look for to diagnose the problem? I'm broke as **** and there's NO way I'll be able to afford assistance from the ******** at Mazda. I owe you guys one in advance. thanks, --BN

Try removing and inspecting all your intake hoses. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a loose Y-pipe coupling. $1.00 in hose clamps later I was back on the road with all 10 pounds.
