boost problem!?

I searched the archives, didn't find this exact problem...so here it goes.

When I am just cruising in gear and want to accelerate i get boost fine (.7-.8 bar) However when I downshift or even from standstill take off the car will boost only to .5 bar and give a pingy sound on the shift as well sometimes it will drop from that .5 bar down to 0. Any ideas? I don't know rotaries well and is my first one so any help will be great. I have had experience with turbos and was thinking the solenoid or a diaphram.

Thanks!

Start by checking both of the check valves. Be sure the pressure tank and vacuum tank are being loaded and maintaining pressure.
