To Boost.....or not?

All this talk about too much boost burning out your motor is true, but...if you are scared of blowing your motor with the boost setting on high all the time, wouldn't just driving around and making sure your boost gauge doesn't hit over 10 pounds suffice? I mean isn't it ok to use the strong boost setting and only stomp on the car rarely?

If you have driven the car around all day and the boost gauge never hit over 2 pounds...why shut the boost off 5 min before arriving home(which most people say is the replacement for a turbo timer)when you haven't used it anyway.

I have a turbo timer installed and from what I have seen, it doesn't matter if you leave the car running for 2 min or 5 min after shutdown, the temp will remain at a constant. Even with just the fans running, the motor is still as hot. Bottom line, the car is going to be as hot as it's operating temp(depending on how hard you were driving it), and the temp outside. As long as the car is sitting idle on a hot day, it's just pulling in heat off the road if it's running or even if just the fan is on.

I let the car run for a minute to cool the oil in turbos..for good measure, then shut it off as I am not prepared to pop the hood every time the car is parked.
