Boost gauge fittings.

Hey guys, Just put a boost gauge in my Rx7 and there is a leak somewhere. I know its pulling good boost because it just got out of the shop and was reading good boost pattern.

It stays at 20 vacuum and I was pulling 0 psi nearing 80 mph. Im using some pieced together connectors from a few diff Boost gauge kits and used plumbers tape on all the connectors and tightened the **** out of them. Still pulling 20 vacuum and not very responsive.

What kind of connectors are you guys using? Is there some recomended pieces I use? Im using 5/32 hose right now on the nipple on the UIM and a barbed fitting going into the hose. Just cant find the leak.

Any pics of your setup? Thanks.

It should be a straight shot from the UIM to your gauge, no need to have connections etc.

Hose is cheap, I'd retry with a single run and see if that's the issue.

Cant really be a straight shot because the hosing for the boost gauge is the sam size as the nipple, at least for my gauge.

I have put load on it.

I just have that plastic tubing into a silicone line and the silicone line on the stock vacuum port. Put zipties to ensure they're tight

How do you get that line to stay in? Just zip tie it? Do you have any compression nuts or anything?

Pipe fittings and thread tape? Sounds overly complicated IMHO.

I don't even run a boost gauge - just a boost controller that has a boost gauge built in (Blitz Dual SBC R), but it still has a boost line, like a regular gauge.

I have a setup similar to BlackTruenoAE86 - a "hard" plastic tube (about 1/8" OD) that goes from my boost controller to a 2" long piece of 1/8" ID silicone hose that plugs onto the UIM nipple. One zip tie on each end of the silicone "adapter."

^ you can see the blue silicone "adapter" hose in this pic.

This setup has always worked fine for me - it's never leaked or unplugged itself.

Thanks for that pic, but This is the connection I am talking about.

The connection from the boost gauge to the vacuum wire, Im using copper pieces to make it air tight and while tightening the compression bolt it literally snapped on me, this was the piece that was not air tight so I was only showing vacuum.

Well turned out the cheapo vacumme line was bent at a few places so I need to replace, headed out there now to try and get this resolved. I know its bent at the point of the Boost gauge, and Im sure its bent going thru the firewall as well...It was a pretty tight squeeze in there.

make sure the little ferrule is crushed properly when you are using the copper fitting. it may be leaking there

im not near my car here at the moment, but im pretty sure mine is just plumbed off the middle nipple on the UIM. I think i have a vacuumn line that runs off the middle nipple, then a tee connector and one way runs to my boost gauge and the other over onto one of the valves on the intake
