bonez brake kit
bonez brake kit
I'm looking to upgrade my brakes but don't really want to spend 3k on a kit.
this $800 from rx7.com is more to my budget right now.
http://rx7.com/cgi-local/3catalog.cgi?cat=1&part=1
The kit includes the Bönez Stage (I) Brake Pads for the Front and Rear, Front and Rear Cross Drilled or Slotted Rotors and Stainless Steel Brake lines.
anybody have these? worth it?
Thanks

rx7 store has a similar kit for $589 http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=205&1=326&3=541
Those rotors are just stock replacements -- they won't perform any better. Worse, the drilled ones WILL crack on a road racing track.
I don't know what kind of compound the Bonez Stage Ones are but they sound similar to Hawk HP+ or EBC RedStuffs.
If you just want a little better braking performance/fade resistance, get some better pads (like the ones listed above). Otherwise, you will have to get larger brakes. The 99+ RZ/RS brakes are the way to go IMO. You get 12.4" rotors all around with bigger calipers (and you can still use the emergency brake) with pads for <$2000. Best bang-for-the-buck and with OEM fitment/durability.
Other inexpensive brake upgrades include the M2/Wilwood setup, which allows you to still use the stock 16" wheels.
After that, you're stepping up to the over $2k class (just for the fronts) to get AP Racing or Brembo upgraded brakes.
